What do I need to do during the Meet and Greet? This pre-service meeting serves as an opportunity for all parties to get to know if we are a good fit before booking. Here are some tips to prepare for the upcoming meet and greet! Safety first! If your pets are master escape artists, it’s best to have them in a separate room before the sitters first come into your home. If your pets are skittish, do not force them to socialize and be petted right away. Sometimes it takes weeks for them to warm up to new people (especially cats) but we will get there! It’s usually easiest to have one spot for everything pet related. Be prepared to show the sitters where to find the food, water, supplies and waste disposal. We’d love to chat about your pets on and on! Unfortunately, pre-service appointments are a standard 30 minute visit. Make sure to have your questions and info for the sitters ready. If you need more time, an additional $10 fee will be charged per 10 minute extension.

What if my pet passes while I am away? Our attentive pet care providers closely monitor pets for signs of distress or illness. If any concerns are observed, we promptly notify the client and assist in arranging immediate veterinary attention. However, there may be instances where a pet passes away due to undisclosed or unknown medical conditions, age-related factors, or similar circumstances. In such situations, we handle the pet's remains respectfully. We carefully wrap the body and place it in the client's freezer until arrangements can be made to transport it to their preferred veterinary clinic. If a pet's passing is determined to be the result of staff negligence or any external factors other than declining health, a thorough investigation will be conducted. Such incidents are taken seriously, and if found to be true, it can lead to the termination of the staff member involved. We prioritize the well-being and safety of the pets under our care, and our pet care providers receive training to prevent such scenarios. It's important to note that our role is limited to providing immediate support until the remains can be taken to the veterinary clinic. The client assumes full responsibility for making further arrangements, including cremation or proper disposal, in consultation with their chosen veterinarian. Please understand that Paleo Pet Sitting, its representatives, staff, and pet care providers will not be held liable for any veterinary costs or expenses associated with the pet's passing.

How many visits do I need to schedule for my cat? While cats may appear independent, changes in their human's presence can lead to undesirable behaviors such as inappropriate elimination and furniture damage. To prioritize your cat's comfort and happiness, we have specific visit requirements in place: Shy/No-See-Em Kitties: For shy or hiding cats, we offer 15-minute wellness checks at least once every 24 hours. These checks cover essential tasks like feeding, watering, and litter maintenance. Social Cats: Social cats of all ages require a minimum of 1 visit every 12 hours, with each visit lasting at least 30 minutes. This ensures they receive proper care, companionship, and attention. Special Needs: If your cat requires medication, they must be social and cooperative with our sitters. This ensures uninterrupted administration of their medication. Alternatively, if medication administration is not feasible, we recommend seeking a vet tech from your clinic for medication administration while we provide wellness checks, feeding, and litter box services. Recommended: We highly recommend our "Whisker Warm-Ups" service before your trip. This allows your cat to become familiar with the new person handling them, especially for medication administration or if they are skittish. It also allows us to identify any uncooperative or unsafe behaviors in advance, ensuring the well-being of your pet.
